North Waziristan, June 4, 2025 — In a significant counterterrorism operation, Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralized 14 militants allegedly linked to Indian intelligence agencies in the North Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of a heavily armed terrorist network operating in the region. According to the ISPR, the terrorists were involved in a series of recent attacks on security personnel and civilians in the border regions, and were believed to be receiving support and directives from Indian handlers.
Coordinated Offensive
The military launched a coordinated offensive in the early hours of the morning, targeting a hideout in a remote area near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. “During an intense exchange of fire, 14 terrorists were killed. A cache of arms, ammunition, and communication equipment was recovered from the site,” the ISPR stated.
The statement added that the slain terrorists were actively involved in subversive activities, including the planting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and orchestrating cross-border attacks.
Foreign Sponsorship Alleged
In a significant claim, the ISPR accused Indian intelligence agencies of backing the militants. “Initial investigations and evidence gathered from the site indicate foreign sponsorship, particularly by Indian intelligence networks, in their recruitment, training, and operations,” said the ISPR.
This development adds to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi, with Pakistan repeatedly alleging Indian involvement in destabilizing its western border regions.
Commitment to Peace and Stability
The military reaffirmed its resolve to root out terrorism in all its forms. “Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eliminating the menace of terrorism and protecting the country’s sovereignty,” the ISPR emphasized.
Local residents in North Waziristan have expressed relief at the successful operation, urging the government to increase vigilance in the region and improve developmental efforts to prevent further insurgent infiltration.
Regional Implications
Experts believe the operation may lead to a resurgence of diplomatic friction between Pakistan and India. While Pakistan has often cited foreign involvement in its internal security issues, India has typically rejected such claims, calling them politically motivated.
As tensions persist, the international community will be closely monitoring developments in the region, urging both nations to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue.
